Write down the binomial expansions for (x+h)^2, (x+h)^3, and (x+h)^3. Describe how you personally remember the pattern of coefficients, powers of x, and powers of h in each term. To remember the pattern of coefficients, I use Pascal's triangle (see example below), where I count down the rows starting with 0 until I get to the value of the exponent in the original expression. For the powers of x I start with same exponent as the original expression and subtract 1 from this exponent for every subsequent term in relation to the previous one until I reach 0. For the powers of h I do the exact opposite; I start, for the first term, by having 0 be the power for h and add 1 for every subsequent term in relation to the previous until I reach the final term where the exponent for h will be the same as the one in the original expression.
